Iceland is an active tour.
Consider your physical condition. This means we are on the go with some longer days balanced with free-time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. Iceland is not well-suited for those with significant mobility issues, especially those requiring canes, walkers, or wheelchairs. You will not be allowed to remain in our vehicle when stopped for included experiences. Distilled water is difficult to find, so please let us know before we travel so we can contact our hotels in advance to make private arrangements should you need it for CPAP machines, etc.
The constant awareness and relationship with Iceland’s changing weather is part of the exciting immersion that makes it a thrilling destination. Walking and standing outdoors in winter conditions for long periods of time (1-3 hours) should be expected. You can expect to navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transportation (small coach, boats, etc.), and can anticipate changes in elevation.
Many days on this itinerary take us to remote areas where services are limited. Your cellphone may not have service during remote parts of this trip. We are always attentive to your need for rest stops and meals.
Please be flexible and trust that our local drivers and guides are well trained, attentive to safety requirements, and that, if necessary, will reorganize in a comfortable, safe way to provide you the best experience possible.
Iceland is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. The days are much shorter in winter – allowing for more opportunities to experience the northern lights.
Keep in mind that as they are a natural phenomenon, Northern Lights sightings cannot be guaranteed.
