Custom Book Club Tours for Your Book Club Reading, like travel, allows us to discover worlds we might otherwise never experience. Books have the power to transport us to another place or time. Forge a deeper connection with literature, the world around you and most importantly, with the members of your book club.
Picture it. Plan a year of books to prepare for a trip of a lifetime that will bring your book club readings to life!
Read it. Every month your book club gets together to read one of the books on our suggested reading list. These books set the stage for a great travel experience. Think how different your reading experience will be when done it in the context of an upcoming vacation.
Live it. The itinerary for these tours is specifically planned to bring literature alive as you experience "in person" the places, scenes, characters, history, authors and cuisine featured in the books.
Choose as many books from our suggested reading list as your group is comfortable committing to read in the designated time before your trip. We have an extensive list to choose from and, of course, will work with you to add any additional books you may want to include. The books you choose help set the itinerary, pace and tone of your trip, so they should reflect what your club members like to do. NOTE: We would be happy to set up an online meeting or conference call with your book club group to answer any questions you may have before you make final decisions.
Che Bella Tours will provide a detailed itinerary plus travel discussion guides for each book to enhance your book club discussions and foreshadow the highlights of your tour. It is the responsibility of the book club to stay on track to complete all of the books before your departure date.
Have a great trip!
Itineraries will include: • Private tours that highlight the sites in the books • Cuisine featured in the stories • Evenings of theater • Visits to the homes and haunts of the authors • Commentary and discussion of the books and authors • Accommodations, breakfasts and some dinners, all transportation, cooking lessons and wine tastings, private expert guides, skip-the-line reservations, a dedicated Tour Director and great information to help you prepare for your trip.
If you have a friend or spouse who is not in the book club but wants to come for the vacation, think about bringing them along! There will be plenty to do for everyone.
"Reading stories about diverse people and different places offers a degree of understanding. Stories teach a bit about the character of your destination, create a mental picture and offer a small sense of belonging. If you've read a well-known book or two about the place you're visiting, you have a leg up, like a cultural passport to your destination … you'll find ways to understand the places you travel through the eyes of authors who have gone there before you, as well as open your eyes and hearts to the people who live there now." - Terri Peterson Smith, author of Off the Beaten Page
